Program Educational Objectives

The objectives of the BS in Computer Science program are to prepare the student so that three to five years after completing the program, the graduate will:

  • PEO 1. Leadership and Innovation in Computing: Be participating in and leading the development of innovative computing solutions, advancing computer science through research and entrepreneurship, and collaborating with industry and government to drive technological progress and economic growth.
  • PEO 2. Ethical and Global Impact: Be applying ethical principles and a global perspective to design computing solutions that address societal challenges and benefit diverse communities.
  • PEO 3. Lifelong Learning and Professional Growth: Be lifelong learners and adaptable professionals at the forefront of the evolving computing field by pursuing professional development, adapting to emerging technologies, and exploring transdisciplinary opportunities.

Student Outcomes 

Graduates of the program will have an ability to:

  • Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  • Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  • Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  • Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.
